Life in an Obituary
You read about a life in the obituary column. 'Singer who made Manchester rock'. You read about the bands, the break ups, the albums recorded. One hit you remember, Top of the Pops; Every Little Hurts. Penniless in 1985. Did he really have no money? Where did he live? What did he eat? Lately resurgent again. The ups and downs abstractly echo your own undulations. You think you remember a sad expression, curly hair. That tangibility now forgotten; unattainable.
At an airport, checking in, you stand and wonder if it is enough - this life: the bands, the break ups, the albums recorded.
